Freshpet - Dangerous Food

I'm so sorry that your dog got sick, my stupid vet told me me giving my dog rice mixed vegetables and chicken wasn't good enough.. So I bought this *** I thought I was giving her another good solution without me having to cook but she got really sick and today she woke me up really early in the morning with diarrhea after the first time eating this tonight I try to give it to her again because I'm stupid and she would not even touch it... I'm going to throw this crap away and give her what I was giving her before

Switching your dog’s food abruptly can cause gastrointestinal upset such as vomiting, diarrhea, and a decreased appetite. Any time you decide to change your dog’s food, you should transition to the new diet gradually in order to give your dog’s system time to adjust to the change.

Ideally, these transitions should happen over 5-7 days. During this transition, you will gradually incorporate more and more of the new food by mixing it with your dog’s current diet. For most dogs, a good diet transition will look like this: Day 1: 25% new diet and 75% old diet. Day 3: 50% new diet and 50% old diet.

Day 5: 75% new diet and 25% old diet. Day 7: 100% new diet.

Freshpet - To help other pet owners in making a choice in food for their pet.
When I first tried FreshPet Dog Food, I thought it was great. Mr. Doodles, my 11-year-old dog, is very picky about eating. However, he always ate FreshPet dog food. Then there's my 6-year-old dog, Bugzy, who has a weak stomach. She didn't get sick right away. However,...

Nutritional concerns.

My dog never seems fulfilled. She seems hungry all the time. I feed her much more than the recommended quantity suggested by the manufacturer. Besides that, it is too expensive, especially since she needs to eat so much of it.

User's recommendation: Beware.

Dog joy chicken sticks

Shortages of dog joy chicken sticks. I was told they were taken off market due to supply shortages. My dogs love them.

User's recommendation: Just cross your fingers and hope they come back on the market.

Warn others

My dogs, cats, feral cats, raccoons and wild fox would not even touch this stuff. I received the bags and huge tubes of the chicken and vegetable dog food as a donation to my animal rescue. It was not even close to expiring and was kept cold. When i first opened the bag it smelled good. But after two minutes you will not be able to stand it. None of my animals would touch it. I put it out back for wild raccoons and fox and they do not even want it.

User's recommendation: Don't waste your money.

Nasty cold food

My dogs won't eat it unless I heat it. No thanks. If I need to do that, I might as well cook them dinner. No thanks. At least canned food is room temp.

User's recommendation: Save your money unless your dogs eat cold dead animals.

Cold food

My Border Collies don't like cold food. I am not in the habit of cooking for them. Having to nuke your refrigerated food, doesn't work for any of us.

User's recommendation: Save your money. Unless your dogs eat anything.

Freshpet puts GARLIC POWDER IN ITS FOOD! GOOGLE IT. GARLIC IN ANY FORM IS TOXIC TO DOGS AND OTHER ANIMALS. WHEN I FIRST TRIED IT WITH MY SWEET SHIH TZU PUPPY THE FIRST THING I SMELLED WAS GARLIC.

I Googled if GARLIC was okay for dogs and all kinds of articles came up saying it was TOXIC!! SO, now I check for that in anything I feed her. The Honest Kitchen used to use garlic in food but now is not in ingredients list. My dog loved the fresh pet when I first bought it but when I discovered GARLIC was toxic to dogs like chocolate, I refused to feed it to her and she was a mad little shih tzu but she was safe.

User's recommendation: Do not feed your dog anything with GARLIC!!
