Freshpet - Started out good but quickly turned to a bad experience.

We started feeding our 15 year old toy poodle fresh pet vital grain free chicken recipe and she loved it. I bought the second bag dated sell by 10/13/17 and we've only been using it for a couple days when she started vomiting and wouldn't eat the food.

I noticed that the food had a strong sour, spoiled smell and stopped the food immediately. My girl is 15 and we will not jeopardize her health.

Someone at fresh pet needs to take this seriously and look into all these issues with the pet food. I will be returning the bag for a refund and will no longer buy your food.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

I have been feeding my dog this because I thought it would be better for her, however my dog started smelling horrific a while after eating it.

Feeling the same way

Same. So frustrating.

My cat loved that dang food.

But we've gotten several rotten bags. Im at a loss.

A long drive to get it and not so fresh all the time. And yes I keep it cold on the way home.

Oven roasted chicken and she will not touch. The bags of oven-baked she likes, and the beef she hates!

This is happening to my dog too. I'm taking my dog to the vet tomorrow.

He has been vomiting and has had diarrhea for days after eating freshpet a few days ago.

I just started searching for a recall because he has never been sick before! He's only 10 months old.

I bought a bag from local Costco with expiration date of 10/20/2017. I noticed a strong sour smell also a couple of days ago (It was opened about 10 days before).

My dog vomited a couple of times.

I stopped feed it to my dog and will return it. Thanks for sharing your experience.

You are supposed to dispose of 7 days after opening. But my dog started throwing up on the vitals and I was throwing it out after seven days after opening.

But the only reason why I had to was because she got ***. I purchased the small links because she is a small dog. I'm just going to cook for her from now on.

Be returning my food to PetSmart tomorrow because she won't even touch the that food. Dogs are smart and know when something is no good.

I may be mistaken but I believe it states on the bag that it’s good for 7 Days after opening

Thank you for bringing this to pet owners attention. My poodle under 8 years old was fed Freshpet, She started vomiting, was in pain.

Unfortunately all attempts at the emergency clinic could NOT save her. Died May 30. 2017. I'm heartbroken.

This food contains Carrageenan.

I'm looking for answers. PLEASE post if you've had similar issues.

Where you feeding the roll or the bag mixture, the refrigerated type??? I've mixed just small amounts of the roll cut up in tiny pieces to all 3 of mine but two of them are throwing it up immediately after they eat.

They are not gulping or eating too fast either. Concerned.

Yep, similar situation with cat, although I caught it in time I hope. I too strongly believe it is the caregeenan.
